Uncaria tomentosa, better known as Cat’s Claw, is a vine that can be found growing abundantly in the lush jungles of Central and South America. The name is derived from the plant’s thorns, which are literally shaped like a cat’s claw. A staple in Peruvian medicine, Cat’s Claw has long been used to treat an assortment of health ailments, including:
- Chronic pain
- Inflammation of arthritis and rheumatism
- Bowel disorders
- Viral and fungal infections
- Certain cancers (inhibits the growth of cancerous cells)
